Larry Eugene Coleman – loving husband, father, brother and friend – passed away March 15, 2017 at his home, in the comfort of his loved ones.
Larry was born July 25, 1936 in Tacoma, Washington. He was a pianist, a carpenter, a gardener and an electrician, but he was best known as a Christian who loved his family and friends. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pascagoula.
In his lifetime, Larry was involved in many professions. He was a computer repairmen with Burroughs, long before anyone owned a home PC. He owned a Philips service station on Courthouse Road in Gulfport and was a partner in Scottie’s Auto Air in Biloxi. He also resolved many electrical snafus as a technician at Mississippi Music in Biloxi.
Larry served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-61. He held a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife, Berdine Spiers Coleman; his daughter, Vickie L. Doucet; and his son, Gene Coleman, all of Ocean Springs; his sisters, Joyce Eickman of Riley, Kansas and Shirley Williams of Dillingham, Alaska; his brother, Ronald Keith Coleman of Riley, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Janie Cole of Ocean Springs; and his brother-in-law, Bert El Spiers of Ocean Springs.
