Relius “Paul” Derouen, Jr. of Biloxi, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Paul was born on March 26, 1950, in New Iberia, LA. He was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast and a graduate of St. Martin High School, Class of 1970. Paul worked as a pipefitter at Ingalls Ship Yard until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his father, Relius Paul Derouen, Sr. and his step-mother, Lola Kopszywa Derouen; his mother, Doris Migues Jarrett and his step-father, Jerry Jarrett and his brother, Nolly Dubose.
He is survived by his loving wife, Freda Hockman Derouen; his six children, Kenzy Allen (Lynette) Derouen, Jan Derouen Brewer, Brian (Christy) Derouen, Catherine Rivas Felton, Carolyn (Scott) Kulp, Amanda (Dusty) Reed; his grandchildren, De’Anna Raymond, Sydney Felton, Darby Felton, Leagh Derouen, Breanna Kulp, and Brandon Kulp; his sister, Rachel (Bill) Milsted; his sister-in-law, Illeen Dubose, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved very much.
In keeping with Paul’s wishes, he will be cremated without a wake or funeral. At a later date and time, his ashes will be spread over the Gulf.
The family sends a special thank-you to the staff at Ocean Springs Hospital, Ortho Neuro floor; Gulfport Memorial, Ortho Neuro Floor and ICU; and St. Joseph’s Hospice.
