Janna Kathryn Hicks Farmer, passed away at the age of 82 in Gulfport, MS. She and her family had been residents of Long Beach since 1970.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles Cary Farmer; her parents, E.D. and Lois W. Hicks and her brother, Robert L. “Bobby” Hicks.
Mrs. Farmer is survived by her son, Charles Kevin Farmer of Long Beach and her granddaughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Farmer of Gulfport.
Janna grew up in Laurel, attending Laurel schools and was a graduate of George S. Gardiner High School and she attended Jones County Jr. College. She was employed for several years at Masonite Corp., where her father was a co-founder. She was a past member of the Auxiliary at Jones County Community Hospital in Laurel and was also a past member of the Laurel Garden Club.
She worked for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department during the administration of the late Congressman and Sheriff Larkin I. Smith serving as Associate Advisor to the H.C.S.D. Explorer Program and she also worked as a bailiff in the Harrison County Court System.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Long Beach City Cemetery.
