Sallie Willou O’Keefe Clements, 79, passed away at her home in Gulfport, on Wednesday June 14, 2017.
She was born February 9, 1938, in Jacksonville, FL to Nellye Cannon Haines and William LaVerne O’Keefe. She grew up in Palatka and Sarasota, Florida. She attended the University of Florida where she met her husband, John Robert Clements. Once they were married she devoted her life to their children and home. When their children went to college she went back to school and got her nursing degree in 1985. She was an RN at Memorial Hospital on the oncology and rehab floors until she found her calling with hospice. After being a professional RN for 13 years, she went to Sarasota, Florida to care for her father until his death, at which time she brought her mother home to Gulfport to care for her.
She is survived by her husband, John Robert Clements; her daughter, Jenny (Kevin) Smart; her son, Doug Clements; her daughter, Pam (Jerry) Marshall; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Christine) Smart, Jeremy Smart, Amanda (Eddie) Lynn, Scott Clements, Ramy Al-Bawab, A.J. Al-Bawab, Brad Marshall, and Ally Marshall and her great grandchildren, Morgan, Noah, Hyett, Travis, Kayelynn, Cannon, Olivia, Cooper, and Anecia.
The family will be having a service to celebrate her life at Mississippi City United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 22, 2017, with visitation at 9:00 am and the service at 10:00 am. A private burial will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery.
