James Edward Allen, age 74 and a resident of Gulfport, died on October 4, 2017, in Gulfport.

Mr. Allen served in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Sara Jane Brewer Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Flo Lacap Allen of Gulfport; his step-daughters, Edna (Austin) Hill of Holly Springs, NC and Melinda Fernandez of Raleigh, NC; his step-son, Will Fernandez of Mobile, AL; his step-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Meredith, Chloe, and Victoria and several step-nephews and step-nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors to be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12290 Depew Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
