Obituary for Stephen Louis Mathis

On Sunday, September 9, 2018, Stephen (Steve) Louis Mathis passed away in his home in Vancleave, MS at the age of 62. Steve was born in Paragould, AR on September 21,1955. He was a man who loved his family and friends fiercely. If you were scared, hurt, or in trouble, he would be there to help anyway he could. He was a man that would give everything he had to help those around him. Steve was baptized into the Church of Christ church in Sullivan, MO as a teenager while living in Stanton, MO. He then moved with his family to family to Springfield, MO and eventually to Vancleave, MS. He loved boating, fishing, enjoying many hours on the water, and watching old western movies.

Steve is survived by his wife of 44 years, Julie Miller Mathis; son, Tim (Donna) Manley; granddaughter, Cameron Manley; grandsons, Mason and Trevor Williams of Brighton, MO; sisters, Regina (Stevie) Register and Diane (Dayle) Robinson both of Gautier, MS; brothers Gary (Renee) Mathis and Brad Mathis (Angela) of Vancleave, MS; 6 nieces, 2 nephews and many great nieces and nehews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Joann Mathis of Vancleave, MS; nephew, Tony Foster of Vancleave, MS; grandparents, Neville and Marie Brown of Rector, AR and Theodore and Pearl Mathis of Springfield, MO.
There will be a small celebration of life for Steve at the home of Regina and Stevie Register on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
